Understanding Heart and Cardiac Care For Men

Cardiac Care in Men

The rate of heart diseases has seen a noticeable increase in the past few years. The heart is the center of the body. All bodily functions work because of the heart and that is why it becomes very imperative to take immense care of this muscular organ. An average human heart beats about 72 times per minute. Any irregularity witnessed in this figure is an alarm for getting your cardiac health checked. Taking good care of your heart is perhaps the healthiest thing you can do for your body. The symptoms relating to heart diseases call for immediate attention. It can be quite tricky to recognize these symptoms as most of them do not appear to be serious. It is, therefore, important to be aware of the different symptoms of heart diseases.

What are some common symptoms relating to heart conditions?

Often, people tend to associate heart attack with heart conditions. However, the heart can develop many other, equally serious, problems which have more or less the same functions. Let us look at the different heart diseases and their corresponding symptoms.

Heart Attack: Medically known as Myocardial Infarction, heart attack often follows warning signs such as vomiting, anxiety, nausea, sweating, weakness, radiating pain in the jaw, arm, or throat, indigestion, frequently irregular heartbeat, pressure in the chest or arm, etc. However, it is not obligatory that a heart attack will always be accompanied by any or all of these factors. A heart attack, as is in most cases, can be sudden. Diabetic people are more prone to having few symptoms of a heart attack due to nerve damage.

Atrial Fibrillation: Fatigue, weakness, pressure in the chest, palpitations and shortage of breath are some common symptoms of atrial fibrillation.

Coronary Artery Disease: The condition refers to the build-up of plague in the arteries of the heart (atherosclerosis) and may result in symptoms such as irregular heartbeat, sweating, pressure rise in the chest, nausea and dizziness.

Arrhythmia: Refers to the condition wherein the heart beats irregularly. This condition is typically accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue, thumping and palpitations in the chest, dizziness, shortage of breath etc.

Heart Valve Disease: This condition renders the heart valves between the atrium and ventricles useless. The inability of the valves to perform their functions gives rise to symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, pressure rise in the chest, ankle, abdominal and/or food edema, weight gain etc.

As is evident from the above data, similar symptoms can be the indications of different conditions. It is therefore important for every male to be cautious about their health and bodily reactions. One of the best ways to ensure that your cardiac health is in order is to pay regular visit to your physician. Heart diseases usually originate from stress and over exertion, so working towards decreasing the stress levels is another precaution that men can take.  Also, monitoring one’s nutrition and exercise regimen is also highly suggested.
